Thank you for making ZING DYNASTY Sichuan Habanero a reality. Our campaign surpassed $10K with 12 hours to spare, and we’re excited to cross the finish line of our second successful Kickstarter campaign. 

What’s Next?

Here's a quick rundown:

1. We’ve already placed a deposit for a full kettle of product (about 180 cases). The sauce goes into production in just six days — February 21st. It will get cooked, bottled, labeled, and palletized for freight then sent to our fulfillment warehouse in Louisiana. I will post an update of the final product and labels. 

2. Kickstarter needs to transfer over the funds so we have the money to make the rest of the rewards — and to pay the final production and freight costs.  This can take up to two weeks. It will take another week or so to arrive at the warehouse.

3. We have to find out T-shirt sizes for most of you and where we need to ship them. We’ll send out a BackerKit survey to collect this information. 

We’ll give you a heads-up before we send the survey so that you can watch for it (on or around February 28th). You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to answer your survey. The invitation email contains a link to your personal survey. It is important to submit your responses as quickly as you can since we need this information to process your rewards.

If you need to change your survey responses, purchase add-on items, or update your shipping information, you can click the link in your survey email again or request your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page. (This page will only start working after we send the surveys out.)

If you prefer, you can contact me directly and give me your information, but answering your survey help us get your rewards out to you faster. BackerKit helps us save lots of time by streamlining the survey process, automating data organization, and providing us with pledge management software to make it easy to process your pledge reward shipments.

If you used your Facebook credentials to log in to your Kickstarter account, the BackerKit survey link is sent to the email address you use for your Facebook account. If you have another email address that you prefer to use, please contact me.

Greetings backers, just a quick update on the latest developments... 

Project Update #5

We are scheduled for production on (Fat) Tuesday, February 21st. Our new ZING DYNASTY labels have been printed (2,500 of them), and they have arrived at the kitchen facility. Some of our production supplies and ingredients are starting to arrive as well. 

Reward Surveys... 

will be going out 2 weeks after our Kickstarter funding closes. Expect to receive your Reward Survey via email on February 28th. We are using Backerkit this year to help facilitate fulfillment and information gathering (t-shirt sizes, shipping address, etc). I will send out another update with more info on Backerkit surveys as we get closer to the send date.

Goal Update: 123%

Small increase from previous update — I'm hoping things pick up in the home stretch to get us over $10K. I will do some more social media posts and another email blast or two. Please continue to share our project!

Greeting Backers!

This is just a quick update to welcome all the new backers, and to share some interesting insights about this project.  Yesterday, I took a look at our Instagram and came across these posts from February 2019:

I started working on this recipe exactly 4 years ago. Like the streets of Chinatown, it has taken some twists and turns. I can’t be more pleased with the final result — the trials and errors were so worth it. I’m anxious to bring it to life next month. 

Project Update #4

I approved the label artwork this morning. It will go to press in a couple of days.  If you’re interested in what a digital press proof looks like, here’s a screenshot:  

All of the yellow areas will be matte-reflective gold. The Chinese Sinograms (letterforms) and the red areas on the left panel will also print as reflective. We've changed printers from our last Kickstarter project, so this label will look and feel stunning this go around. Our current product labels have the same premium quality these days.  

If you are curious about the Sinograms... The left side reads, “Chinatown Warrior” (Tángrénjiē yǒngshì). This is a nod to the rich and colorful history of Chinatown, and also its small businesses that withstood so much adversity since March of 2020. Once this new sauce comes to fruition, we look forward to partnering with a non profit organization that addresses the critical needs of Chinatown’s community and its entrepreneurs.

The right side reads, “Sichuan Chili Sauce” (Sìchuān làjiāo jiàng). 

Goal Update: 116%

According to some websites that project our campaign’s analytics and data, we are currently trending toward $10,419 to $18,674. Since we are going to produce a full kettle of sauce now, we are hoping to raise at least $11 or 12K. I feel we can do it, but not without persistence and effort.

Congrats, everyone! We hit our goal in just 10 days...

Greetings Backers, we’re all getting sauced.

We surpassed our goal and celebrated National Hot Sauce Day in style at our Chinese Lunar New Year launch party yesterday. We got a great response — many returning Backers and loyal fans informing us that this new sauce is “the best one.” 

According to their feedback, what they enjoyed most was the unique depth of ingredients giving it the umami experience. Then the slow build of medium habanero heat, which is pleasing for a hot sauce, while not overpowering the other subtle flavors — such as tangerine, Sichuan peppercorn, ginger, and roasted sesame oil.   

During the party, we also revealed the “ZING DYNASTY Bootleg Action Figure” designed by New York City pop artist The Sucklord — who manufactures unlicensed action figures and toys through his Chinatown-based studio, Suckadelic. This limited edition, artist-signed oddity is only available through our “Chinatown Warrior” Reward Tier.

Project Update #3

ZING DYNASTY Sichuan Habanero Hot Sauce is scheduled for production on Tuesday, February 21. Yep, that is Fat Tuesday (Mardi Gras) for all you fans of our “Bayou Collection” sauces.  

We are awaiting some revisions to our FDA process letter. The printer’s proof of the label should be arriving this week for my approval. Barring any unforeseen circumstances (let’s not go there!), we are aiming to deliver your rewards a month ahead of schedule (mid-late March). 

Goal Update: 107%

We are stretching the goal to $12,000 to maximize economy of sale pricing for a full kettle of hot sauce — about 180 cases. Please continue to share our campaign to help us reach our new goal towards a full kettle of product. It’s a full-go Pre-Order Campaign now, so if folks want first dibs on this new sauce, this is the best way to do it!

Year of the Rabbit + National Hot Sauce Day

January 22nd starts Lunar New Year 2023, “Year of the Rabbit”. January 22nd is also National Hot Sauce Day — the day our first Kickstarter campaign, in 2020, surpassed its funding goal of $25K to launch Bayou Gotham Hot Sauces. Coincidentally, I was born in The Year of the Rabbit. The stars have aligned for us to surpass our goal once again this Sunday. We have a lot to celebrate! 

Years of the Rabbit: 2023, 2011, 1999, 1987, 1975, 1963, 1951, 1927... The sign of Rabbit is a symbol of longevity, peace, and prosperity. People born in a year of the Rabbit are believed to be vigilant, witty, quick-minded, and ingenious.

Launch Party Details

Victoria Bar — 235 Eldridge Street New York, NY 10002 (between Houston & Stanton)

We will have ZING DYNASTY Sichuan Habanero tastings paired with delicious dumplings, noodles, and appetizers from the original Vanessa’s Dumpling House (veggie options too), a cash bar featuring a specialty cocktail from Victoria Bar, and a few surprises — including the big reveal of the ZING DYNASTY bootleg action-figure… custom designed and signed by Chinatown pop artist, supervillain, and reality tv star, The Super Sucklord.

Food is first come, first serve. We will have enough for 30 to 40 people.

Project Update #2

Our Nutrition Facts panel has been finalized. Still awaiting proofs of the label design from the printer. We plan to print 2,500 labels. 

Goal Update: 85%

Our goal was set to cover expenses for half a kettle of sauce (80 cases of 12). We plan to go with a full kettle for economy of scale pricing (180 cases). We will stretch the goal to be $10 - 12K. Once we surpass the original $7,500 goal, we will set our production date.
